We have tested the shoulders of hundreds of youth baseball players under the age of 12. What we have found is that more than 95% of them have shoulders that are not within the strength limits they need to be when compared to the player's body weight. The issue is that weak shoulders can't absorb even moderate workloads. As a player fatigues throughout the game, their weak shoulder allows for more layback, which puts additional strain on the elbow and the UCL (Tommy John Surgery). In youth players the UCL is not the weak link, the growth plate it attaches to is. That's why you don't hear about Tommy John surgery in guys 12 and under. What you do hear about all the time is elbow pain and "Little League Elbow". Strong shoulders protect elbows, and weak shoulders expose them to forces they shouldn't be.
Additionally, the app shows us if your player is imbalanced. If a player's internal rotation is stronger than their external, then they are at an increased risk for injury.
What we do is test your player's shoulder strength and current maximum velocity, then the app gives you custom work to do that's specific to your player's weaknesses. The app also takes into consideration what they threw that day. It will prescribe recovery, rest, and strength work that’s specific to your player’s needs and schedule.
During the hour we are together, we will test your player's shoulder and walk you through using the app. The shoulder test will occur at OKC Baseball & Softball Academy (100 N. Rockwell Ave. Suite 92 OKC, OK 73127).
No better time than the present to start building velocity and protecting your player's arm.
After completing the purchase, you will book your player's shoulder health screening on the next page.
